Editor’s Letter
Dear Reader, We’re freeeeee! We know the ‘free’ in freelancer doesn’t Stand for working for free (pah!), it stands for freedom and that’s what this issue is dedicated to. The freedom to design our days and our work how we want to, not how a boss tells us to. ‘But you can never switch off as a freelancer - you are the business.’ There’s certainly truth in this, but I know I’m much happier being in control of my work destiny (even if that means sneakily checking my emails most days on holiday) than I was when I was employed - working to other people’s timeframes and to-do lists, lying in bed at night wondering what pointless meetings I was going to be dragged into the next day.
