PANEL MAKERS SEE 34-INCH WIDE QUAD HIGH DEFINITION, or WQHD (2560x1440), monitors to be the new high-end option, according to industry sources speaking to tech website Digitimes. At present, this tier has primarily 30-inch panels at 2560x1600 and, more recently, 32-inch 4K displays. There are fewer pixels in a WQHD display, but it’s still visually appealing, easier on the GPU for pixel-intensive tasks (primarily gaming), and the 21:9 “ultra-wide” ratio offers tons of horizontal screen space. They’re also experimenting with curved displays, wide color gamuts, and 10-point touch features. Finally, monitor makers also plan to push out 24-inch, 27-inch, and 28-inch 4K screens, and even 5K sometime in 2015. –PL…
