It almost doesn’t matter how good BMW’s new F850GS is on the MCN250 (and it is) because most adventure bike fans will just buy the R1200GS anyway.
You can’t blame them, or the thousands who’ve kept the big Beemer at the top of the sales charts for over a decade. It might be a monster of a thing, but the big GS is a delight to ride and perfect for carrying you, your pillion and a load of luggage around the world.
The R1200GS would be even better if it was, say, 15kg lighter, slightly slimmer and cheaper, but still loaded with all those lovely BMW goodies that make life that bit brighter: cruise control, rider modes, heated grips, LED lights, traction control, ABS, Brembos, spoked wheels and Tonka Toy-like…
