hello you!

And just like that … I'm back! I've had a year away from the mag (and if I'm totally honest, a year away from my sewing machine, too) but Nikki and the team have done a stand-up job keeping everything ticking over in my absence. A return to the mag has also prompted the very welcome return of my sewing mojo – being immersed back in the world of modern quilts already has me itching to whip up something new. This issue is a masterclass in keeping it simple. Suzy's column is all about how to stitch up a keepsake quilt and that's top of my list. get set for summer

Is it just us that long for summer all year round? In a bid to bring the sunshine into our sewing spaces, we've worked with the talented designer Jo Hart to create six cheery Foundation Paper Piecing patterns featuring our favourite summertime must-haves. Pick a cactus, camera, cocktail, suitcase, ice cream or watermelon as your ticket to sunny sewing. Inside your envelope, you'll find a handy booklet to take you step-by-step through the FPP technique and each individual pattern, as well as a full-size template for every block, so you can start stitching right away! We also have a bonus palm tree block (shown above) available to download and whip up from our website, and if we do say so ourselves, it's pretty sweet. Coming in at 7in square (finished), these motifs…

It's a method of transforming garments into something new that you can use One thing I learned quickly after bringing a baby into the world is that I will experience many sleepless nights, change countless diapers and feel an unimaginable and overwhelming amount of love. And not just love for this new tiny human, but also tons of joy in dressing him! Adorable baby onesies, teeny tiny layettes,…
