Tell us a bit about your shoot. It has been a dream of mine to be on the cover of a magazine, so when I was approached for this MAXIM New Zealand shoot I was over the moon! I chose to shoot with Rocky who is so amazing and he had the idea of shooting at this beautiful home in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast. Are there any funny anecdotes you can share about this shoot? Upon receiving an invitation from White Pearl Resorts to spend two weeks at their luxury resort in Mozambique, we were determined to make this happen. After all, if there’s an adventure to be had, you can count on Destination MAXIM. The airport transfer to the resort was definitely the beginning of a huge adventure with many of the models capturing amazing footage of zebras and wildlife as we passed through an official reserve, from the bustling city of Maputo, to reach White Pearl. SHOULDERS Swap out your standard Barbell Military Press for a KB Filly Press. One arm stays in rack hold position while the other moves. The shoulder and scapula benefits from more freely moveable loads, there is better activation of the shoulder stabilisers in all directions and there is less sheer force through the elbows. BACK Swap out Pullups for Ring/Towel Pullups. A freely movable grip allows for more natural movement of the shoulders. The awkwardness of the towel means your grip is challenged a lot more. Strong grip = strong back. ABS Swap out crunches for “anti-movements”. Being able to resist against flexion, lateral flexion, extension, and rotation will greatly improve your core stability and help prepare you for the “real world”.
