As Editor-in-Chief of MILIEU and as a longtime interior designer, I make changes all of the time—on pages and in rooms. My favorite method for transforming the interiors of my home is to use slipcovers. I love their versatility, their informality, and the ease with which you can make a home feel new—but still familiar. I continue to be amazed by the many ways to make a slipcover—with pleats and skirting, trims or piping, fringes or tassels, or simply as a patterned or monochromatic fabric. A well-fitting slipcover is an elegant, tailored way to change up your furniture and your daily life. JACKYE LANHAM Jackye Lanham has become one of the most influential interior designers in the United States since the establishment of her eponymous firm in 1987. Although based in Atlanta, she has designed residential and commercial interiors throughout the world. Her work is characterized by a nuanced use of color and expert use of detail. Lanham has been awarded three Philip Trammell Shutze awards from the Southeast Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, and in 2016 she was honored with its Lifetime Achievement Award. THE BRITISH HAVE COME Sometimes, successful businesses arise more by accident than by plan. Just a few years ago, Daniel Weisbach, along with his partner in life and in business, Brian Moss, began to forge professional relationships with British brands. “It wasn’t really our intention to focus solely on British makers,” says Weisbach, “but it just kind of happened. Marian McEvoy loves folk art, tramp art, and virtually any other art created by the human hand. And though she’s been creating her own original artwork for years, the fashion and design publishing icon wants to make one thing perfectly clear: “I’m not an artist,” she says, “I’m an artisan.” McEvoy, the founding editor of Elle Décor, a former editor of Women’s Wear Daily in Paris, and former editor-in-chief of House Beautiful, has been a respected and influential curator of style for decades.
