Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. HEBREWS 12:2 NIV I’VE ALWAYS THOUGHT of Lent as a new beginning—a magnificent opportunity to tune your heart to God’s Word and develop a deeper relationship with Him—an exciting time devoted to fully experiencing His guidance and blessings. As the ground thaws, preparing for growth of the season, you too can experience new life. I hope the daily readings in this issue will encourage you along the way and guide you to see the spirit of Lent in God’s Word. nothing is hidden

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. HEBREWS 4:13 NIV NOTHING IS HIDDEN from God. As Charles Swindoll said, “God knows our complexities and quirks; He ‘gets’ us better than our closest friends. Best of all, He cares.” God is with you throughout the day, lighting your path and guiding you with His wisdom. Heavenly Father, I’m overwhelmed by Your love for me. You understand me better than anyone.…

take what you need

He told them: “Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt.” LUKE 9:3 NIV IN THE ABOVE verse, Jesus is telling His disciples that all they need is Him. It’s easy to become distracted by your possessions, to hold on too tightly to what you own, or put too much energy and effort into wanting something that you think is the key to happiness. But Jesus’ directions are still true today—as long as you have Him in your life, you don’t need anything else. Lord Jesus, I choose You above everything else. You are all I need.…

find your passion

But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” LUKE 4:43 NIV HAVE YOU FOUND your passion? Theologian Fred Buchner wrote, “The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.” God has created a specific purpose for your life. If you are unsure of what that might be, ask Him to reveal it to you and then pursue it with all your heart. Lord, I am ready to live passionately by fulfilling my purpose.…

divine silver linings

Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. PSALM 36:5 NIV FEBRUARY HAS A fair share of gray, overcast days. The next time the weather has you feeling down, look to the Bible and remember this glorious silver lining—clouds are often a symbol that God is near. From the Lord’s people being led out of Egypt under the cover of a cloud, to the clouds in the ascension and return of Christ, clouds frequently represent God’s glorious presence. Heavenly Father, I know that Your presence and protection is around me today and every day.…

think godly thoughts

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. ROMANS 12:2 NIV TO LIVE YOUR best life you must invite God into your thoughts. When you allow your thoughts to be shaped by His Word, your actions will follow. Positivity and blessings will flow into your life. Lord, I am ready to live by Your Word. Guide me to draw closer to You as I read and reflect on Your truth.…
