The Australia’s Top Emerging Photographers edition is without a doubt my favourite to complete. I specifically mention the completion because the task of running the competition is nothing short of gargantuan. This year, the 13th time we’re sought out the region’s best emerging talent, not only did we receive the highest number of entries, but for the first time ever the overall winner of the competition was also named the overall runner-up, winning two separate categories, and then having the judges also rate those two portfolios the best of the category winners. He continued to work between Sydney and London, though, until 2020 when COVID intervened. Until last year, he had been working on between two and four shoots a year in the UK, establishing…

The popularity of the competition continues, and over the last three years total entries have grown by almost 90%. For the 2021 contest, we introduced two new categories – Black & White and Open. The two categories introduced last year – Single Shot and Animal – proved to be the most popular, attracting the highest number of entries. HOW THE COMPETITION WORKS To be a contender for the title of Australasia’s Top Emerging Photographer 2021, photographers…
