case collaboration for clearvu

Case IH will work with Canadian precision agriculture company Farmers Edge to improve its ClearVU farm management system, the company has announced. The move comes after Case IH parent company CNH International signed a deal to work with Farmers Edge in all its arms across the world. Case IH Australia and New Zealand product manager for planting and soil management equipment Andrew Kissel says he is looking forward to working with the company to find ways to combine their agronomic services and solutions. “Clear VU is designed to increase yield, reduce input costs and maximise farm profitability,” he says. “It brings our customers and dealer network closer together, with dealerships a one-stop-shop for ClearVU customer inquiries and support, and new subscriptions. “By bringing dealers and customers closer in all aspects of the business, the dealer…

record breaker

Looking to break the eight and 12-hour Guinness World Records for harvesting, the Stewart Farms Partnership from Yorkville, Illinois, harvested 43,740 bushels (1,224.7 tonnes) of corn after eight hours, and 63,770 bushels (1,785.6 tonnes) after the 12-hour mark, taking it to the win. Despite 12mm of rain falling the previous day, harvesting commenced at 9am in a field in Illinois. Brothers Bob and Brad Stewart of Stewart Farms managed the task. Bob drove the combine while Brad managed the logistics. It wasn’t an easy task, with Brad having to keep three grain carts and 10 trucks running at top speed to keep up with the Claas Lexion combine. “The machine is very impressive – it’s incredibly reliable and just eats corn,” Brad says. “Our biggest worry was having enough trucks so that we didn’t keep…

paragon debut

Translating to “a pattern of excellence” in old French, Hardi says the name Paragon mirrors their expertise in this area. Hardi Paragon AL booms are currently offered in widths from 24m to 48.5m, for the brand’s trailed and self-propelled sprayers. The Paragon AL aluminium booms combine with Hardi’s advanced boom centres and movement dampeners to “optimise” each boom’s performance and longevity, says the company. “Hardi aluminium booms have been around for a long time and are well proven in Australia and throughout the world,” Hardi Australia’s CEO Bill Franklin says. “There’s a lot more to a successful aluminium boom installation than just the wings,” he adds. “Our experience and Hardi’s unique AutoTerrain technology means there’s virtually zero chance of a ground strike when using Hardi Paragon AL booms.” In conjunction with Hardi AutoHeight – which automatically…

quicke connect

Bluetooth connectivity will bring weighing results from tractors and front end loaders directly to the computer or tablet for users of the new Q-companion, the driver support system designed by Quicke. Upgrades to the monitoring system to be introduced next year will allow for smoother exporting of data as well as access to better colour rendering and more languages, the company says. The upgrades will increase the number of implements that can be stored in the Q-companion display from 10 to 30, while also allowing more user profiles to be added, enabling companies to track who is doing what work with the same unit. First designed in 2017, the Q-companion makes it possible to weigh a load during a lift and to automatically keep track of all the work done with the loader,…

precision ag boost

Massey Ferguson has added precision farming features to four tractor models available in Australia in a move it says will make its models more efficient, comfortable and safer. The new models adds what it calls the “S Effect” to the existing France-built MF5700, MF6700, MF7700 and MF 8700 series tractors, with the new models to range from the 100 horsepower (74.6kW) MF 5710 S to the 370hp (276kW) MF8737 S. AGCO, the parent company of Massey Ferguson, says the optional extra of the advanced Fieldstar 5 touch-screen ISOBUS terminal is a key highlight of the new S specification tractors. To be available on all models with an S specification, the stand-alone terminal was designed in-house to combine the convenience of a tablet computer with powerful precision farming features. Those features include packages for mapping,…

strawberry saver

For a Western Australian strawberry grower, a specially developed Silvan Australia airboom spray solution has hit the spot. T & L Produce Marketing farms strawberries across 40 hectares outside Gin Gin, north of Perth. The challenge it set for Silvan was to design a machine that provided multi-row spray coverage and could achieve close coverage of the strawberry plants by getting under the plastic row tunnels. “The Silvan research and development team at our head office in Melbourne came up with the solution that meets the growers’ needs,” Silvan WA account manager Nick Dicembre says. “Silvan had earlier developed a similar width boom sprayer for a Queensland strawberry grower so this one is the second of its build type and the first application of this technology in a row cop situation in Western Australia,”…
