big control for the smallest projects

Designing a quilt is just the beginning. Giving it a beautiful finish is why I use the Baby Lock Regalia. This 20” longarm gives me plenty of room to work more comfortably and efficiently than ever. The built-in stitch regulator keeps pace with me, creating consistent even-length stitches. Regalia even makes free motion quilting smoother than ever – the handles are independently adjustable and extendable! Top it off with an elegant frame that supports even my largest quilts, and you can see why Regalia is my machine of choice. www.BabyLock.com/50years…

quilters   garden

location: Lawrenceburg, Indiana established: 2012 size: 1,870 square feet At Quilters Garden in Lawrenceburg, Indiana (27 miles west of Cincinnati), shop owner Vicki Reiter follows two commandments: “I treat people how I want to be treated, and I listen to my customers.” Doing right is a logical extension of the shop’s physical space in a transformed Baptist church. Cathedral ceilings, exposed wood beams, and tall, arched windows—once synonymous with worship—now inspire faithful quilters who find sanctuary in fabric. “If the building couldn’t be a church, then it was meant to be a quilt shop,” Vicki says. Homey bedroom and living room vignettes overlook thousands of bolts of colorful fabric, which stand in place of pews. The focus is bright and modern with a modest offering of reproduction fabrics. Tapping into creative sources, Vicki seeks out…

gossypium   quilt shop

location: Issaquah, Washington established: 2013 size: 2,900 square feet Seattle may have a reputation as the cloudiest city in the United States, but everything is sunny and bright inside Gossypium Quilt Shop in Issaquah, Washington (17 miles east of Seattle). Owners Lynette and Norton Smallwood describe their store as “immersion color therapy” because of the boisterous, brilliant colors that spring from every corner and seem to chase away gray days. In fact, bringing brightness and cheer into this small corner of the city was a big reason for opening the store. “All the patterns, vibrancy, and being surrounded by that warmth—we really try to make the shop look inviting,” Lynette says. Gossypium—the scientific name for the cotton genus—is warm and welcoming no matter the weather outside, thanks to Lynette and Norton’s desire to delight their…
