nsw australia sup state titles

20th- 25th June 2019 The 2019 SUP State Titles saw its four final state champions crowned as the 2019 Port Stephens Surf Festival came to a climactic finish in one-foot surf. 2018 NSW SUP State Titleholder Kai Bates (Mollymook) claimed his second title in as many years taking out the Open Men’s division. The south coast natural-footer put on a dynamic performance in the final, locking in a 15.1 two-wave heat total to get the nod ahead of overall event standout Harry Maskell (Wamberal) who had to settle for the runner-up spot. After some stellar results in the Marathon and Technical race divisions, James Casey (Collaroy) was able to claim a surfing title, taking out the Men’s 10-foot SUP final. Casey put on a consistent performance over the duration of the 25-minute final…

10’ element

Held at Lacey’s Lane Palm Beach, we were greeted by a good solid 2-3 foot at sun up, with some freight trains running down the line towards metro Palm Beach and nice smaller reforms inside the gutter to show off longboard style surfing on these 10ft boards. Our club secretary, Emma, provided more yummy food than you could poke a stick at, which was devoured by the hungry participants. BJ provided us, once again, with judging guidance and results were found. We ran the drop round format for the boys while running straight heats into finals for the…

steve morley

Who is Steve Morley? If you’re into Stand Up Paddle Surfing there’s a very good chance that you would have heard, seen or met a paddler by the name of Steve Morley. Of course, anyone that knows Steve will know that his preferred board brand is a DEEP! Here’s a few thoughts from the man. WHEN DID YOU START TO SUP AND WHY? I was surfing my shortboard at Cloudbreak and snapped my medial ligament and ACL in large surf. This triggered me to find something to do when I was on the boat for the next 4 days whilst the boys were scoring pumping waves. There was a 10ft JP onboard the boat, so I decided to grit my teeth, strap up the knee and paddle around the reef flats. When I came…
