Most of the time opting to go back to my DRYFT model for comfort, however, seeing how rough and messy the 12 Towers course looked the day prior, it was really a no brainer to go the Velocity. I rode a production 23 wide carbon model. The board is specifically designed for confused seas, where keeping a high average speed is essential. The velocity is set apart from many other "dugout" boards with its flatter entry rocker, and softer rails, allowing it to keep high speed between large bumps. (03/02/2019) If you were to hold a survey of the paddlers attending any BrisSUP Club event and asked what you like most about paddling, the resounding response would include the word “fun”. As usual, there were well over 40 registered racers for BrisSUP Club’s first race of 2019. Normally we would expect many more to register on the day, however there was a brisk south-easterly sending a pattern of small waves through the Shorncliffe breakwater. These conditions would often see many competitors drop out of the event, but not today, 56 paddlers across three categories made it to the start line. Well on the Gold Coast/Tweed border is the Tweed River and this magic little wave that only works on certain tides but is a fun wave that runs for around 500m. With water that is like a tropical reef this really is a hidden little paradise right in the craziness of the Gold Coast. February 25th, 2019 It was a sunny Thursday morning in Portugal. I’d woken up at 5am to write SUP Racer’s morning briefing. At around 8am I hit post, proceeded to share the link on Facebook and promptly shut my laptop. It would be the last time I’d encourage anyone to visit supracer.com in any meaningful way for the next three months. I started SUP Racer just over seven years ago – December 19, 2011 was the first entry on this blog – and in that time I’ve churned out 2,714 posts that have, hopefully, had a genuine impact on this wonderful and quirky little sport of ours. Drain and rinse the four bean mix. 2. Heat a small amount of olive oil in a large frying pan over a medium-high heat. Add the onion, carrot and zucchini and soften for 5-6 minutes.
