Known for his unparalleled taste and classical sensibility, designer Michael S. Smith set out to create a collection of rugs that otherwise would not exist—each handmade with patina and designed to work across a variety of styles. Subtle in color and pattern, elements of fantasy and nature are present throughout reflecting clouds, starry nights, sound waves and urban landscapes. Smith, a client of Mansour owner Benjamin Soleimani for nearly 25 years, collaborated to create a unique collection with dimension and character—all achieved through artisanship. Made from a blend of silk and oxidized wool and hand-knotted in Jaipur by master weavers, the end result is purely textural.
