Albuquerque, New Mexico’s largest city, has caught the eye of curious travelers. Mayor Tim Keller, known for his love of heavy metal, has helped attract new creative businesses—both Netflix and NBC will open production studios here in 2020—and thus, creative people who are helping to shape the city. Visitors will find rich indigenous culture, new food halls, and a vibrant flamenco scene.
THE PUEBLO STORY
At the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, Hopi curator Rachel Moore stages exhibits such as HERitage: Pueblo Women Paving Cultural Pathways, which features contemporary female artists and sculptors. Pueblo Harvest, the center’s restaurant, serves amaranth pancakes, green-chile-and-cheese biscuits, and other dishes made from ingredients in use since before European colonization.
