It consists of flour, water, and time. Basically, you combine your flour and your water according to a recipe, allowing your mixture to pull the yeast out of the air naturally. Yes, you are literally pulling it out of thin air! It’s what makes the bread rise. You might be familiar with instant, rapid rise, or active yeast in little packets from the grocery store, but Sourdough starter is wild, natural, and delicious!
