MEAT PRICES MIXED
International: New Zealand steers and cows traded the same at NZ$473/head and NZ$298/head respectively. US prices were mixed: topside was 3,42% lower at US$251,38cwt, rump was 1,23% higher at US$316,51/cwt, strip loin was 0,39% lower at US$538,22/cwt, chuck was 0,45% higher at US$282,77/cwt and brisket was 8,73% lower at US$209,92/cwt. Australia’s major indicator of cattle prices increased to a new record level due to tightening supplies. Australian producers are looking to boost herds after recent rain.
Domestic: Local prices rose, with Class A prices rising 0,47% to R38,20/kg, and Class C prices up 0,38% to R31,40/kg. The weaner price rose to R21,59/kg.
