MEAT PRICES MIXED
International: New Zealand steers traded 1,33% lower at NZ$518/head and cows traded 2,98% lower at NZ$326/head. US beef traded mostly lower: topside traded lower at US$224,71/cwt, rump was lower at US$283,55/cwt, strip loin was lower at US$447,47/cwt, chuck was lower at US$240,39/cwt, and brisket was slightly lower at US$205,49/cwt. Demand in the US has been weak, with prices continuing with recent declines. Key beef importers are choosing to offload their stock rather than buying, in anticipation of further price declines.
Domestic: Prices were mixed and the different classes were as follows: Class A prices decreased 0,37% to R35,23/kg and Class C increased to R30/kg. Slaughtering numbers increased and the weaner price was slightly lower at R19,13/kg. Hide prices were slightly higher at R11,64/kg.
