It’s the end of an era on Albert Square this week, as we wave goodbye to Sonia Fowler. We’ve spent the best part of three decades getting to know Carol Jackson’s youngest daughter, who’s transitioned from child trumpet player to teen mum, ending up as a cherished pillar of the community in the same vein as her late, great, grandma Dot. What prompts her to leave this week remains to be seen, but after all she’s been through recently – wrongfully imprisoned for murder, engaged to a psycho killer, and losing her first love Martin in the Vic explosion – you can’t blame her for wanting to move away for good.
