December 4, 1996 NASA’s Mars Pathfinder is launched from Earth. The robotic rover takes images, collects rock and soil samples, and records weather data while on the Red Planet.
December 12, 2017 Scientists report the discovery of prehistoric penguin fossils in Otago, New Zealand. The penguins were about the size of adult humans!
