On a scrubby, neglected strip of land next to a busy road junction in Stafford, a major transformation is underway. After Prima readers voted for this uninspiring 100 square metre site to be turned into a garden for the community, a team of volunteers, led by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, has been hard at work.
Instead of crisp packets and empty food and drink cans littering the patchy grass, soon there will be bumblebees darting among wildflowers, birds splashing in bird baths, towering sunflowers and, hopefully, local residents stopping by to sit and take it all in.
