Late September saw the start of the Railhead Treatment Trains (RHTT) season, with DB Cargo, Direct Rail Services, Colas Rail, Freightliner and GB Railfreight all providing locomotives to either top-and-tail RHTT sets or to operate Network Rail’s own fleet of Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPVs).
DB Cargo is still preparing Class 66s for RHTT work, but so far in traffic are 66104 (Mossend), 66054/083 (Margam), 66065/182 (Stirling), 66066/205 (Peterborough), 66154/179 (St Blazey), and 66165/206 (Didcot).
GBRf has put three pairs of Class 73s (73136/213, 73107/201, 73202/212) into RHTT traffic at Tonbridge, while 69004/013 and 69005/012 were used for shakedown trial runs working off Stowmarket, although the first pair to go into traffic were 69004/012 and they have since moved to Tonbridge.
