I started off thinking of it as a dystopia, but the real world has since kind of dipped down to meet it. The politics of the world I’ve created feel like they could be us fairly soon, just one step from where we actually are now. I have a favourite mirror that’s elaborately framed with cloudy-white porcelain flowers, each petal paper-thin.
