HONDA HAS A long, celebrated history of 600cc+ four-cylinder bikes, dominated by its 80s/90s/Noughties CBRs and its spin-off, naked-roadster Hornets. But after their demise, Honda chose to revive their spirit and style in more budget, novice-friendly forms – first with the 2011 CBR600F then, with the larger, CBR650F and its sibling, the CB650F, from 2014.
Both have proved enduringly popular and have also been successively updated since. The CBR is the faired sportster, the CB the naked roadster. Both remain unique as affordable, first big bike, four-cylinder machines with the latter standing out as a smooth-revving, more substantial alternative to Yamaha's best-selling MT-07 twin.
