When it comes to creating good tiny-house design, Malia Schultheis credits her accounting background.
“Architecture and accounting are very similar,” says Schultheis, who is the accountant, creative director and owner of TruForm Tiny, a tiny-house building company in Eugene, Oregon. “They’re both meticulous processes, with a lot of little pieces to keep track of. It’s definitely the same part of my brain when I’m doing accounting and when I’m doing tiny-home design.”
With double-major degrees in accounting and fine art, Schultheis was well-prepared when in 2015 she and her husband, Jen Carroll, decided to roll the dice and start their dream business—designing and building tiny houses.
