BEN BOOTH TELLS ABOUT THE OPEN DOOR POLICY AT ANYDUB CLUB Hi VWt, I wanted to tell you about our new VW club, Anydub. The name came from one of our original club members, a top bloke but a man of few words, who would greet people by saying “Anygud?” That was his way of saying hello! He would then reply saying “standard”. That was his common dialog! So we named the club after him by changing it to “anydub” and it’s just spiralled from there. Literally any Dub is welcome in our club and members’ cars include everything from air-cooled T2s to T6.1/T7s. Regardless of how rugged you are, you can’t beat being snug on a weekend away. Yes, there are plenty of ways to try and stay warm using thermal clothing and extra thick duvets but the rewards from having a heater shoving out lovely warm air cannot be underestimated. Until a few years ago such heaters involved a considerable outlay but fortunately they are much more affordable now. In fact, it would be daft not to fit one, even if it’s to keep the dog warm after a wintery weekend walk. Folks who grew up in the late-20th century invariably have a fond attachment to the movie Toy Story. Released in 1995, this was the first ever feature-length computer-animated movie, and it’s impressively stood the test of time by still being watchable today, rather than ageing badly into a CG mess like all those awful Dire Straits videos. There’s no question about it – unless your work van doubles up as a camper, or you use it as a minibus, you’ll benefit from fitting a pop-top elevating roof. With a rock ‘n’ roll bed fitted, it will give you an extra double for the kids. Head just over the Severn Bridge into Wales in Mid-July and turn left for Caldicot Castle. Once you get to this haunted castle – the only show I know of at a haunted location – you will be greeted by a massive collection of VWs parked in and around the ancient edifice and its grounds. VOLKSWORLD SHOW 2026 GEARS UP FOR BIGGEST EVENT YET The legendary VolksWorld Show is back for 2026 and promises to be bigger and even better than last year.
