I have spent a great deal of my life downtown. My first memories were watching the 4th of July fireworks from the then Shelby Street bridge (which is now the pedestrian bridge) when I was a kid. I went to high school at Hume-Fogg right on Broadway. Listen, to be honest with you, I was terrified getting out of my mom’s car and walking up those stairs. I wasn’t a city kid; we lived in Goodlettsville in the country. But I grew to love downtown quickly.
