Bought it for just $1,000, and the project began. I set out to build a cool café racer—on a budget. Of course, I ended up spending more than I had planned but the project didn’t get completely out of hand. The engine is stock, though I had the carbs rebuilt and added a Stage 3 Dynojet kit and pod filters. The exhaust is a MAC 4-into-1 piece. Jon Davies caught the bug decades ago, developing an appetite for Sportsters in the early ’80s when he bought a 1976 Ironhead.
