While our magazine is one of my favorite sources for color inspiration, I have another go-to solution when I need to explore fresh color combos. I just stop by the nearest quilt shop—and inspiring quilt shops are everywhere! When I walk into a quilt shop, whether it’s a place I frequent or a destination on a shop hop, my creativity gets a jumpstart. It might be a new print that causes me to change my fabric selection or a sample that sparks an idea. In any case, I find that local quilt shops are a great source of ideas and guidance. SWATCH SLEEVES When I am working on multiple quilts, I put fabric samples from the different projects into trading card sleeves. It keeps the project swatches separated and makes them easy to see and match quickly. When I go shopping, I fold the sleeve, tuck it in a pouch, and slip it into my purse.
