…for many different reasons. There are the challenges of being newly divorced or widowed or starting a special diet – or there’s simply having a quiet night in. I’ve had my fair share of disruptive life events, but my current solo supper needs fall into the last scenario. On these nights I relish getting back to basics, with baked beans on (sourdough) toast or a speedy HFG curry. Whatever the reason for your solo suppers, dietitian Juliette Kellow covers the potential pitfalls and cookery consultant Phil Mundy cooks up nutritious dishes. Keeping our brain sharp is constantly in the news and even if, like me, you’ve hit middle age, it’s not too late to boost it. In our section, neuroscience expert Dr Dean Burnett covers the latest research and guides us through how…

‘I’ll make something with tuna because my husband doesn’t like it so I have it when he’s out. Typically, I’ll have a simple jacket potato with tuna and sweetcorn and salad. Or I’ll make wholewheat pasta with tuna, broccoli and either pesto or cheese sauce.’ JULIETTE KELLOW is a dietitian who has worked in the NHS, the food industry and the media ‘Chicken caesar salad – or, as a variation, I’ll replace the chicken with prawns fried in garlic.’ DR DAWN HARPER is a GP and runs clinics on women’s health and weight management. She appears on TV shows such as This Morning ‘Baked beans on toast, without question! Neither of my children likes baked beans, so this meal, bizarrely, has become a real treat. THE CAKE THAT KEEPS GIVING… I’ve made your excellent flourless chocolate cake recipe from the November issue three times so far. My son chooses to be dairy free and my daughter-in-law is gluten intolerant and, very unusually, your cake ticks all the boxes if I serve it with dairy-free yogurt. SUSAN, VIA EMAIL Editor Melanie says: ‘We love to hear that our readers are enjoying our recipes and, more importantly, sharing them with family and friends. This is a…
