welcome to mindful fitness

As a transformational coach and learning professional, I have a passion for health, fitness and wellbeing. I help individuals and organisations learn, grow and transform through tackling mindsets and behaviours, uncovering what’s holding them back so we can all improve our lives and become better versions of our unique, beautiful selves. mindful fitness

Life seems to be getting busier, and we’re doing our best to juggle hectic careers, family life, friends, keeping up with social media, hobbies, TV shows and social activities. We often drift by on autopilot and in the blink of an eye, another few months have passed and those plans to work on your health and fitness haven’t quite started, or the goal you set your sights on hasn’t been achieved. Of course, we understand the importance of being fit and healthy; we need to have energy, vitality, strength (both physical and mental), and our general health has to be good in order to give us the best shot at being able to tackle everything that life throws at us, and to help us live the best life possible. However, so…

principles of mindfulness

Awareness of the present moment This is being really focused and paying attention to the present moment, both externally and internally. The former could be focusing on sounds, smells and what you can see in the environment around you. The latter is about recognising your thoughts, how you’re feeling, any sensations happening in your body like butterflies in your stomach and your heart beating fast, and the actions you’re taking. We often ask how other people are feeling, but how often do you fully stop and consider how you’re feeling? This could be really focusing on feeling the tension in your muscles working when lifting weights rather than just going through the motions and not really paying proper attention and focus. Awareness of thought patterns Even when you’re not aware of it, your…

why we fail to achieve fitness goals

You expect fast results In a world of instant gratification and having everything at our fingertips, we want to see change as quickly as possible, or see it as a short-term fix. Unfortunately, long-term change, and doing it healthily, does take time, and if some diet fad seems too good to be true, it probably is. Steady and consistent wins the race – be patient, be kind to yourself and stick with it. You don’t have a clear plan You may know your final destination but lack a plan of how you’re going to get there – you don’t know what you need to do day by day with your nutrition and exercise. If your daily actions aren’t aligned with your goal and you’re not tracking your progress, then the odds are stacked…

first steps

Before you start creating a plan to work towards a fitter you, it makes sense to spend some time exploring what’s happening at the moment in your life. Think about the things that could be slowing down progress towards your personal goals. Simply taking some time out to stop, think and reflect on your current lifestyle, and how you’re honestly feeling about yourself, will help you to figure out which areas to start focusing on first. This reflection can help to remove any obstacles standing in your way, so you’re free to move forwards positively. For some people, it might be changes to nutrition that will make the most positive impact on your health and fitness. For others, it may be looking to change a key habit that’s holding you back. You…
