‘Proper motor this’ JJ’s attire is a permanent source of mirth, but given his skills in cheap used car buying we thought his new coat was perfect. It hasn’t helped him to sell the 306 Sedan though. Our monster meets Il Mostro Nathan may have picked up a new car from Alfa Aid (p84), but the team there specialise in SZs and RZs, which our man is drooling over here. He swears he wiped his chin afterwards. Alfa, redesigned by Audi Nathan had it all planned: a big feature on a year with a 166 for less than the cost of a four-month lease on a boring Beemer. A classic car show in a nation's capital has the potential to be world beating. Parisians have Retromobile and we have The London Classic Car Show. The comparison was particularly appropriate this year as the two events happened within five days of each other. As you'll see over the page, the Paris show rolled out some truly exceptional, rare and expensive modern classics, cars that we felt were lacking in London. This year's event (as in 2018) took in just one of the Excel's admittedly huge halls. It's filled two before. M&Ms These awe-inspiring M cars drew hoardes of fans over to the BMW Car Club GB corner of the LCCS. Both the E30 M3 and the E28 M5 were in a slippery shade of Salmon…

It's turbo time! Renault laid on a display of 12 of its classics to mark 40 years of it using turbocharging to spruce up its road cars. The trio of hotted-up 5s – a 1982 Turbo, 1986 GT Turbo and 1983 Alpine Turbo – were the stars of its stand, but there were also blown versions of the 9, 11 and Fuego on show, the 25 Baccara. and the hugely rare Safrane BiTurbo, good for 260bhp. A record 132,500 classic fans packed into Paris' Expo halls for this year's Rétromobile – and we reckon the jaw-dropping displays of heritage cars brought along by Citroën to celebrate its centenary and Renault to mark its turbocharged heritage played a big part.Elsewhere in the halls Honda brought along an…
