mustangs and social media

THERE’S NO DOUBT THAT SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and so on have changed the world. Long-lost friends from childhood or college reconnect, families find it easier to stay in touch and show off vacation photos (not just to the relatives imprisoned in their living rooms but to the whole world), and people with common interests (like Mustangs) find each other and create communities specific to those interests. I have a bunch of Facebook “friends” that I’ve never met; many of them are in foreign countries, and the friendship is based on nothing but our shared love of Mustangs and general automobilia. That’s the neat thing about social media—people who would otherwise never know each other come together and bond over cars. I’ve had conversations with people in Italy,…

PROTECT THOSE PLUG WIRES Tight engine bays hold a lot of heat. Add in tubular headers, a supercharger, or turbo, and the heat produced is incredibly damaging to components, especially spark plug wires and boots. To keep those wires delivering that much-needed spark to your plugs, consider DEI’s new 7-inch Silver Protect-A-Boot. Made from high-temperature–resistant, woven-glass fibers, they can withstand direct heat up to 1,200 degrees F while staying pliable for installation on straight or angled plug boots. They are chemical and abrasion resistant and available in 2, 4, and 8 packs. INFO: (800) 264-9472; DESIGNENGINEERING.COM BRAKE IT UP! If you drive your classic Mustang regularly, you need to do you and your loved ones a favor and convert to a dual-bowl (or tandem) master cylinder for improved braking safety. danny krumm’s beacon of hope is now in mustang heaven

“WHEN DANNY KRUMM WALKED INTO DON AND RITA JO’S GARAGE IN 2018, he didn’t touch the car because he had this reverence,” Karen Block says. The odometer read 6,000 miles, and the red 1971 Mach 1 was pristine, flashing original paint—a Mustang collector’s dream. “He walked around it and said, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe it. Can I open the door?’” Karen’s older brother, Alan Block, graduated from DuBourg High School in St. Louis in June of 1971, and a month or so later he bought this 1971 Mach 1 brand new. Karen was 12, but she remembers the excitement in her brother’s teenage voice urging their father, Joseph Block: “Dad, you’ve got to see this car.” “He was out of school and was working. He sold his ’65 Mustang and…
