editor’s journal

100 issues When the opportunity to become editor of Quilters Companion was offered to me in 2018, I was overjoyed to take the helm of this outstanding publication. Now, I am lucky enough to have the privileged position of being the editor of QC on this, its 100th edition. Although my editorship is rather short compared to past editors, just like each of them, I feel an overwhelming pride in being a part of the amazing team that works each issue to produce this great journal for our wonderful readers. Our accurate content depends on the skills of our technical editor, Megan Fisher, who has been with the magazine for almost every issue. Our designer, Bianca de Ocampo, is young, passionate and talented. Our regular contributors, Michelle Marvig and Anita Ellis, pass…

Our photo album What fun we’ve had on Quilters Companion Travelrite patchwork tours over the years! We have put together an album of some of our best memories — take a look on page 140. Raised Edge Ruler The TrueCut rulers not only provide precise measuring, they also solve one of the most common cutting frustrations. All of the TrueCut rulers have a raised edge, or track, on both sides that provides extra security when cutting. The ruler edge adds more surface area for the rotary blade to rest against, giving you a safer and more stable cut, while also preventing the cutter from slipping over the ruler. The edge doesn’t take any extra space or add to your measurements. The ruler track interlocks to the special Cutter Guide on the TrueCut rotary cutters.…

100 issues

1 The beginning The coverline on the first issue in 2001 was Excellence in Patchwork & Quilting and that principle remains the foundation of Quilters Companion 18 years later. It is imperative to provide technically correct project instructions as well as bring you the best content possible. The other principle we stand by is community! Patchwork is nothing if not community-based, and within these pages we have consistently presented opportunities for readers to feel part of a larger network of like-minded souls. 2 The editors Karen Fail launched the first issue, and continued to be editor until issue 13. Clare Mooney took over from issue 14 and led the team until she retired from the role in 2016. Michelle Marvig picked up the reigns from issue 85 through to issue 90 and our current managing…

"My first project in Quilters Companion was String Pieced Star wallhanging, way back in issue 32. I have been lucky enough to have had 15 projects featured in QC, with three on the cover, and I’ve made two DVDs for the magazine. I’m so honoured to be included in QC’s 100th edition. In this day and age in publishing it’s a real feat to reach 100 issues, let alone still be in existence! That’s a testament to the magazine’s presentation and content, both of which are top-notch. The magazine is always looking for new content and contributors, staying up-to-date with all that’s happening in the quilting world."
