JASPER YU Freelance photographer Jasper believes in living a fulfilling life with a vocation that feeds his soul—he believes in the adage that a good photo can speak a thousand words. Recently, he photographed our cover story at 8 St Thomas Walk (page 66) and our outdoor furniture feature with Sabrina Ho at Xtra (page 70) with much relish; peruse the stories from these pages. MARIA CHIARA ANTONINI Even as a child, Mari was the family’s official chronicler during their travels; she now travels the world as a journalist, meeting tastemakers in fields as varied as design, food and fashion. When she’s back in Italy, Mari enjoys interviewing the pioneers of Italian design and leading furniture producers, such as the family-run team behind Italian brand Flexform (page 58). What makes a house a home? To many, “home is where the heart is”. And that, in essence, is truly what makes a living space uniquely yours. For me, my home is my sanctuary, surrounded by the books I love, the mementos I’ve collected on my travels and the company of my two fat cats. In this issue of Singapore Tatler Homes, we’ve put together a collection of beautiful homes from all over the world that exudes warmth, style and personality—these include a unique house in Antibes that looks like a superyacht (page 142) and a gorgeous apartment in Barcelona (page 94) that’s inspired by its Mediterranean climate. And what do these homes have in common? They are all built and decorated to the homeowners’ unique requirements. Like a love affair,…

Tell us more about your design philosophy. Our company ethos is about bringing the British hallmark of quality to all areas of the company, be it personal service, the quality of build or the attention to detail. We believe our clients are the most important. It’s about reflecting their needs and their personalities, and to make sure that the design concept works for their lifestyle. How does this influence your aesthetic? The Elliot James style is understated and refined; we do clean lines for the floors and walls, then inject pops of colour through materials and fabrics. Our starting point tends to be a particular chair or artwork that the client already owns and we’ll build the design around that. Craftsmanship is also very important so we make sure that people get well-built…
