The design fraternity turned out in force at the Salone del Mobile Milan recently. Some of these commissions included a stunning ‘Forest of Light’ show by fashion brand COS and artist Sou Fujimoto, an art display by Amsterdam’s Dirty Art Department in a former slaughterhouse called The Wandering School and Berlin-based architect Diébédo Francis Kéré…

WHAT / Previously an option available only to professional chefs and the hardcore culinary enthusiast, sous-vide cooking can now be enjoyed by domestic cooks with Gaggenau’s new 400 Series range of combination steam ovens. Its latest combi-steam ovens are equipped with the sousvide (vacuum cooking) option as well as a vacuum drawer, providing users with the choice of preparing and cooking their sous-vide creations at home. With the oven, sous-vide cooking is as easy as sealing your seasoned meats and vegetables in airtight bags within the vacuum chamber before transferring them to the combination steam oven to be cooked with the sous-vide function. The fixed inlet and outlet water connection ensures that the vacuum-packed food package is cooked slowly and gently over precise low temperatures ranging from 50°C to 95°C,…

ELIOT ROUND TABLE FROM CATTELAN ITALIA (AVAILABLE FROM XZQT) MICHELLE ENG “For my modern baroque style dining room, I’d pick a wide-base round table in white marble. Beautiful as it is, white marble is sleek and lends a luxurious feel to the room while a round model enables diners to engage in conversation more comfortably than with a long table.” COCKTAIL TABLE AT EXTREME WOW SUITE, W SINGAPORE - SENTOSA COVE PEGGY JEFFS “A scene-stealer with storage built into the design for a bar, this innovative piece I saw in the Extreme WOW suite of W Singapore – Sentosa Cove makes a great display piece. It has a mirrored counter criss-crossed by silver lining. When closed, it can be a cocktail or console table. It opens up to a bar that’s perfect for guests to…
