Anybody who has held a new-born baby will be able to testify that they feel incredibly light and fragile in your hands. Anybody who has had the pleasure of raising said new-born from birth to double digits will be able to confirm that they grow incredibly quickly, even if it may not always appear so at the time. The funny thing is that when you hoik them in and out of the car on a daily basis, lift them onto your shoulders because they are too tired to walk or carry them screaming round Sainsbury’s because they simply refuse to walk, you tend not to notice the addition of an ounce here and a pound there, you simply lift them up and get on with it.
