Study: Dispensaries Strictly Enforce ID Verification Dispensaries in most major cities in the U.S. aren’t selling cannabis to kids, new findings show. Data published in Vol. 143, August 2023 edition of the journal Addictive Behaviors shows that dispensaries are strictly following state regulations. Adult-use retailers across five U.S. cities were found to be in strict compliance with laws that require patrons to show ID and proof of legal age. A team of investigators affiliated with George Washington University’s Milken Institute of Public Health conducted point-of-sale audits of 150 randomly selected dispensaries in Denver, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Portland, and Seattle, auditing 30 locations in each city.
