editor’s letter

I was recently asked by a Sunday newspaper to write an article, in the form of a letter, to George and Amal Clooney on what it’s like to have boy and girl twins (huge joy/no sleep). The editor wanted to publish a picture of my little darlings, but choosing one took longer - and provoked far more angst - than writing the article. My main concern was, would my now 13-year-olds be mortified by the cute toddler shots that the paper wanted? Perhaps I’d have been far less fretful had my babies arrived on this planet during the social-media explosion rather than before, when the only people interested in looking at pictures of them smeared in ice cream sitting on a potty were their doting grandparents. According to a recent…

aw ‘17 do it like the pros

JESS WOOD Fashion features director CODE RED ‘I am obsessed with these thigh-high boots (above). I’d wear them with floral dresses and statement jewellery. For me, more is always more.’ BLAZING SQUAD ‘I want everything from the Gucci show. A blazer is a must-have this season, so I’ll be investing in this amazing printed number (above) and mixing it with bold-print trousers. For a more understated look, I’ll wear it with jeans, a white tee and kitten heels.’ GRACE SMITHAM Senior fashion assistant POWER COUPLE ‘This skirt-and-trouser checked combo from Maryam Nassir Zadeh (right) looks great with a white shirt. It’s the perfect mix between masculine and feminine.’ HOT-STEPPER ‘These shoes (below) are so chic, and the heel and neutral colour means they’ll go with everything… I’m thinking standout shades and accessories.’ ROSIE SMYTHE Acting senior fashion assistant WHITE ON ‘The kick-flare shape of these…

style spotlight zimmermann

Australian swimwear brands – so sunny; so Bondi beach; so not your first port of call when looking for the perfect oversized shearling coat. But Zimmermann, one of Australia’s oldest and most successful labels, is exactly that. So, the print on the swimwear was the same as on the dresses,…
