A word of warning, though: you may need to put on shades before turning to page 132 for Tiffany Fraser Steele’s gloriously bright shoot, which has made even monotone me consider the merits of a hot-pink trouser suit. But I still can’t imagine myself in a pair of dad trainers, however cool the fashion world declares them to be (see what you think on page…

whose logo is it anyway?

If you had £10,000 to spend on a Gucci coat, you’d want (no, demand ) it to be authentic, wouldn’t you? After all, that’s pretty much the point. Not so for a Dapper Dan customer. Back in the 80s, the ‘Harlem hustler’ built a mini fashion empire by producing extravagant custom designs covered in fake designer logos, such as Fendi, Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Rap stars like LL Cool J and Salt-N-Pepa were all kitted out in his OTT leathers, faux furs and suiting, emblazoned with the insignias of fabled European luxury houses. After one copyright-infringement lawsuit too many, lawyers acting for houses including Fendi finally closed him down in 1992. But now he’s back – and is being embraced by one of the brands that once viewed him as a…

GET WAISTED Add edge to a classic trench with a corset belt. Don’t be afraid to go for something bold or textured à la Maison Margiela. Team with minimal accessories. LAYER UP This look is all about the art of layering. Make like Céline and wear a jacket under your trench, keeping it open and oversized. INSTANT REFRESH Give your mac a new elegant lease of life by wearing it off the shoulder, tied around the waist or over a slip dress, as seen at Preen By Thornton Bregazzi.
