editor’s letter

I am officially counting down the days to my summer holidays. First up, it’s a week at a resort in Corfu where I plan to catch up on all the reading I haven’t had the chance to do this year (Heidi Perks’ thriller Now You See Her is at the top of my list), while my husband falls off a paddleboard and our teenage twins scour the joint for the best Wi-Fi signal. I’m also having a week at the end of the summer in Suffolk on a group holiday, in which we get all of the fun and none of the simmering resentment or outright argy-bargy that can occur when people who normally adore each other decide to live together in a fancy villa for a week. Instead of…

do aw18 like a pro

PARIS LUCIA DEBIEUX FASHION EDITOR ‘Mulberry took Paris by storm this season, but just for one day. I dropped into the presentation in Le Marais and was drawn to the wacky colour combos. When it comes to new shoes, these Magda Butrym heels with removable bows are top of my wish list. I always forget to pack sunnies, so I had total FOMO after spotting major looks on the Parisian street stylers. These Dior beauts are too good to leave at home.’ MILAN JAYNE PICKERING FASHION DIRECTOR ‘I adore this beautiful black velvet dress shown at Gucci. It’s the perfect addition to any wardrobe because it’s so timeless. I loved the Marni show, especially the standout dresses at the end. And on the streets of Milan, there were logos everywhere – still a major trend for autumn/winter.’ NEW…

LUST ITEM Yes, the leather is super-soft, but it’s the cool, urban print that has elevated Michael Kors’ ‘Graffiti’ bag on to our hit list this summer. Instant edge, literally bagged. WHERE’S YOUR HEAD AT? New-season trends are firmly on our radar, so although the temperatures are still warm outside, one of the most stylish pieces to start investing in for autumn is headwear. From baker boys to berets, it seems designers are all on the same page when it comes to the head-turning accessory of AW18. SPORTING HEROES Directional Italian brand Pinko is launching a hot athleisure range, C-Clique. Made from premium materials, the collection promotes a healthy lifestyle without compromising on its signature feminine style. Available at COVETABLE CAST-OFFS A new, contemporary sustainable brand has landed. Baue (pronounced bower), gathers unwanted materials (just like…

judith milgrom for maje

If you hanker after that artful mix of girl/boy dressing commonly known as ‘French chic’, then chances are the label Maje, founded by designer Judith Milgrom, is on your wish list. A ruffled blouse here, an oversized blazer or a perfectly cut leather biker there – the label’s pieces are ideal for sprinkling a bit of Clémence Poésy-style wardrobe magic. Along with Sandro (founded by Milgrom’s older sister Evelyne Chetrite), it was the label that turbo-charged our obsession with the notion of insouciant Paris style. It’s been 20 years since Milgrom quit working for her sister’s brand (she began helping during summer holidays at 16) to start her own. To celebrate, a new flagship will open on London’s Regent Street later this year. But Milgrom wasn’t actually born to Bretons and…
