Fearful of a Le Pen victory following Brexit and Trump, they didn’t want to take a Macron win for granted, and their joie de vivre when he did was palpable. Just as London voted remain, Parisians were solidly behind the 39-year-old pro-European, but Le Pen scoring 10.6 million votes elsewhere across the country shows the continuing growth of the radical right backlash, and the lesson Le Big Mac must surely take is that those voices cannot be ignored. ‘It’s our brand’s six-year anniversary this year,’ says Tatiana Santo Domingo. ‘Dana wanted to start an online portal that would promote fair labour practices through supporting artisans in various communities. I wanted to collect things from around the world and curate a website, so we merged our ideas.’ ‘India is our favourite place,’ says Dana Alikhani. ‘Each time we go, we find cool new crafts and tons of inspiration.’ ‘Your clothes always need to feel comfortable,’ says Santo Domingo. ‘We have a casual workwear wardrobe and love brands like Frame, Equipment and Vince,’ adds Alikhani. ‘The key for us is to team basics with a Muzungu Sisters jacket or kaftan – this is our go-to outfit.’ ‘I never leave the house without a Muzungu Sisters camouflage shawl,’ says Santo Domingo. ‘It’s the perfect…

UTILITY CHIC The utilitarian trend has entered new style territory with a polished, more refined feel. Invest in leather pieces, like this Joseph jacket (far right), and you’ll be ready to lead the sartorial charge. STYLE TIP Wearing khaki with white tailored separates will break up the look. For a more sophisticated take, add a subtle colour boost with earthy tones. THE RISE OF OVERSIZE Up your pre-fall game with a pair of supersized trousers – the longer and wider, the better. Wear with a bold-sleeve shirt for extra style points. STYLE TIP Team with a slim-fitting shirt or jacket to even out your proportions. SUIT REBOOT The humble trouser suit has been upgraded to the new statement must-have. Banish black and show you mean business with an all-over print design or standout shade. Blazers are also key –…

JOIN THE FAN CLUB They’re fabulously flamboyant, but unless you’re an Austen heroine or Karl Lagerfeld, fans are tricky to pull off IRL. Made in Spain from birchwood and cotton, Fern fans are created sans flamenco-kitsch and ‘they have a language of their own,’ says Hoppen. Luckily, Fern also provides a cheat sheet… Prices from £50, Fernfans.com The Alexa line Alexa style stalkers among us need wait no more – her debut fashion label Alexachung drops on 30 May. ‘Music has had a huge influence on my work,’ she says. ‘I don’t think I’ll ever stop finding musical magicians compelling.’ Think Brian Jones-inspired flares, vintage-vibe peacoats and…
