fab abs

The holy grail for a flat stomach is big business. From those infomercials selling gadgets and miracle pills that promise fabulous abs, every year we spend millions in pursuit of the treasured six-pack. For many of us, this goal remains elusive, and that’s because toned, lean abs don’t come from gadgets or pills, or even from a gazillion sit-ups. While ab-specific training is one component of a well-planned exercise program, no amount of crunches alone will give you the abs you want if you don’t also melt away that layer of fat that’s padding your midsection. The key to achieving that involves diet and exercise. Changing your diet to one that emphasizes lean proteins, along with vegetables, fruit, and essential fats, will help you to lose weight. And performing exercises…

history of that wicked weed

The oldest preserved fibers of hemp or cannabis come from the Chou dynasty in China over 3,000 years ago, though archeologists have found charred marijuana seeds in a ritual brazier in Romania stretching back to 10,000 BC. Records of marijuana use on the island of Taiwan date back just as far. The earliest known woven fabric was made of hemp, and over the centuries the plant has been used for food, incense, cloth, rope and much more. The Latin name for marijuana is cannabis sativa. It’s a vigorously growing, erect branching plant that can grow up to twenty feet tall. It flourishes in virtually any climate condition. It’s native to China, India and the Middle East, but is cultivated all over the world. It has fine, serrated segmented leaves. Both the male and…

the sunshine vitamin

The very term “vitamin D” is a misnomer. Vitamin D is the word used to describe a class of many different forms of steroid-like compounds. It actually got the designation of vitamin when its application in the diet cured rickets; however, because it can be made in the body with appropriate sunlight, it’s technically less of a vitamin and more of a hormone. It has numerous actions in the body and many therapeutic applications. Vitamin D synthesis Upon exposure to sunlight, the skin transforms the precursor of vitamin D into vitamin D3 or cholecalciferol. It’s then transported to the liver where an enzyme converts it to 25-hydroxycholecalciferol, which is five times more potent than D3. Then, 25-hydroxycholecalciferol is converted by the kidneys into 1, 25-dihydroxycholecalciferol, a compound ten times more potent than D3…
