I always try and find something to love in every month of the year, but August makes it especially easy. We have a lovely bank holiday to look forward to, the sun is shining, and everyone feels a little lighter; there’s a spring in our step as we soak up all that glorious vitamin D! 62 per cent of brits have changed their diet to get healthier

A survey conducted by YouGov, as part of the British Nutrition Foundation’s Healthy Eating Week 2021 has found that nearly two-thirds of Brits have made a change to their diet in order to get healthier in the last year. The BNF ( found that 33 per cent of people said that they have included more fruits and vegetables in their diets, 29 per cent have started cooking healthier meals, and 32 per cent have been drinking more water. Over half (57 per cent) have made changes to cook more healthily since May 2020, with 1 in 5 finding healthier recipes to make. Commonly referred to as nuts, cashews are actually the seeds from the cashew tree; native to Brazil, the tree is now cultivated in many warm climates across the world. The seeds that we know as nuts are nutritionally rich; they are high in unsaturated fats, low in sugar, and a source of fibre and protein. They are also a great source of copper, a mineral needed for a strong immune system and a healthy brain. Cashews do contain phytates, meaning that it can be difficult for your body to absorb all of the vitamins and minerals they contain: soaking them overnight will reduce their phytate levels and make them easier to digest. Cashews are particularly popular amongst vegans as their creamy consistency make them perfect for making homemade cheese.…
