We all have our own wish list of what features would be included in our dream home if money were no object. For me, high on the list is an in-ground pool with a huge pool window that looks into a basement movie room. The room would be filled with filtered blue light streaming in from the pool. These days, a pool window is more possible than ever before, with pool builders and window manufacturers having well and truly mastered the technique. Queensland-based Blue Glass Pebble Company was recently chosen to supply the material for the major renovation of a swimming pool at the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort in Sigatoka, Coral Coast, Fiji. Luxury hotels know how to make the most of the gorgeous weather and boast wall-less lobbies, open walkways and rooms that open out to swimming pools. Why do people choose to add a porthole or windowto their pool? People include these for interest, to create a different design element, to add natural light in adjoining rooms or even as a safety element for supervising children in the pool. What materials are your pool windows made of? We use only acrylic for pool windows. The acrylic is sourced from Germany and is of the highest grade and quality available. The acrylic sheets come in a range of thicknesses to suit different-sized windows; they can be cut and moulded into different shapes, and sheets can also be bonded together if required for greater length or height. Beautifully curved into an embankment, this stunning swimming pool is an excellent example of the work carried out by the award winning KMD The Outdoor Construction Company owned by Kieran Devlin. From construction to the renovation of existing pools, Kieran and his dedicated team can tackle any swimming pool or landscape project with ease, even the more challenging ones, such as the featured pool. Built into the side of a steep, sloping property, this project was a challenge. From access to the site through to completion of the build, each step had to be carefully planned to ensure a high-quality finish. Anita and Tony, owners of this Bendigoproperty, were hoping to fit a pool in their compact backyard to add a focal point and enhance their already established alfresco area. This small but functional Summertime Pools fibreglass pool did exactly that. The pool creates a visual extension of the alfresco entertaining area, as the pergola was designed to fit around the pool rather than the other way around.
