keukenhof

WHY TOUR HERE? This extraordinary sight can be found at Keukenhof in the Netherlands – its other name is the ‘Garden of Europe’, and it’s easy to see why. It’s one of the largest flower gardens in the world, with around seven million bulbs planted each year. April is one of the best times to visit if you want to see the blooms in all their glory; Gary Blake and Wendy Johnson did just that in 2018. You can read all about their visit – and the rest of their Netherlands tour – on p22. WHAT MOTORHOME? Bailey Advance 70-6 PHOTOGRAPHED BY Gary Blake…

argentina by ’van

I look forward to your magazine coming through our letterbox each month, and always start with the travel features, which are my favourite read. You have really excelled yourselves in the past couple of months, with features about touring in Australia in the January 2019 issue, and Canada in February. With both of us reaching the significant birthday of ‘50 plus VAT’ this year, my partner and I were looking for a different kind of trip. We were delighted to come across a company offering a month’s motorhome travel in Argentina. The holiday is described as an ‘escorted tour’, which nearly put us off. But we are so glad it didn’t because, other than getting some co-ordinates to meet up with fellow travellers each evening, we could go ‘off piste’ as often as…

5 things we’ve talked about most this month...

1 YOUR TOP 100 SITES Aside from our Owner Satisfaction Survey, we’ve been counting votes for our annual Top 100 Sites Guide. We’ve done just that; find our verdict on p66. 3 BLOOMING HOLLAND For a foretaste of spring, you can’t beat Gary Blake’s pictures of his trip to Holland – see his Grand Tour, starting on p22. 4 ALL AT THE NEC We’re looking forward to the February NEC – if you’re going, see our full guide on what not to miss, on p78. 5 GET ON YOUR BIKE We’re big fans of taking bikes on tour, but it’s not always easy to work out how to do so.…

our experts have their say – that’s you

Motorhomes are brilliant – they offer a lifestyle that’s impossible to beat. But they’re complicated pieces of machinery, so it’s hardly surprising that the occasional thing goes wrong. Very often, a good experience at a dealer can ease your pain and frustration, though; and it was with both these phenomena in mind that our Owner Satisfaction Awards were born in 2004. If you’re not aware of our Owner Satisfaction Awards, you’ve been missing out. Each year, we ask readers who bought a motorhome or camper, new or used, over the past three years to report on their vehicle and their buying experience. This year, thousands of you had your say: we’re confident the results give a good indication of what to expect from a ’van you’re tempted by. Turn to p53 for our findings,…

holiday hotshots

We spent a few months touring Norway from Nordkapp, hugging the coast south all the way around to Oslo. These photos were taken in the Morfjorden Nature Reserve in the Arctic Circle (top) and in the fjor ds near Flåm (bottom), as recommended by fellow motorcaravanners. Around us the only sound was from the waterfalls tumbling down the mountainsides – paradise. Julie Buckley Hook Lighthouse on the south-east of Eire during a cycling holiday with our campervan. Bill Francis You never know what you’ll find waiting for you in the Swiss Alps. Perhaps a weary walker had enough of his boots and continued on his w ay, barefoot! Tired of walking perhaps, but no-one could tire of this view at St Hugues. Kerriann Godwin Email your pictures and their stories (40 words, plus…
