We have lots of quick and affordable updates to bring the new season into your home: check out our Trend Alert: Plant Power (p18) for botanical buys and our guide to summer patterns (p36) – I love the fruity motifs.…

Into the jungle As with so many people during lockdown, we’ve been decorating our home. We’ve lived here for five years and moved into it when it was a new-build, so we have white walls and plain fittings everywhere. I’ve been nervous about adding colour but this year decided to be brave. As our downstairs loo is the smallest room, it meant I could go wild! I put this wallpaper up on one wall after painting the others. I don’t think I’ve done a bad job given it’s the first time I’ve ever wallpapered. Emma Young, by email Your Home says: Emma, this wallpaper is amazing – such a polished finish! We love the jungle theme and the forest green paint you’ve paired it with. Pot luck While waiting for spring planting weather, I decided…

letter of the month

DRESSING UP We moved into our bungalow last year during the first lockdown and have been slowly updating it. When I’ve been off work due to lockdowns and my husband is still working, I’ve tried to use the time as productively as I can. It’s not been gardening or allotment weather recently, so I decided to make this dressing table my first upcycling project on a budget. I used GoodHome Milltown paint and lined the drawers with Muriva Mamboa Leopard wallpaper. We loved the colour of the drawer fronts so decided to keep them natural but used Rub ‘n Buff wax in gold leaf to update them and the other fixings. As a hairdresser, I love being creative and really enjoyed the process. I learned a few things along the way and am delighted…

So, it’s time to brush off any cobwebs and get your grill looking sparkling clean ahead of all the garden gatherings this June… • If there are still bits of food stuck to the grill after use, try steaming them off. Allow the barbecue to cool slightly, then lay water-soaked newspaper on the grill and close the lid. Leave to steam for half an hour. It should dislodge any stubborn remnants of food and grease, ready for a deep clean. • Next, it’s time for a good scrub. Create a simple solution of washing-up liquid and hot water and scrub well with a grill brush with wire bristles. If that doesn’t do the job, opt for…
