stefano pastrovich a taste of the future

Tell us how you kept being inspired during the confinement? During that time I divided my work into three main tasks: 1-My contribution to the yachting community. When the Covid-19 crisis exploded in all its severity, I immediately asked myself what I could do to help. I couldn’t accept the idea of being passive in the lockdown. I’m not a doctor or a billionaire. My contribution couldn’t be scientific or philanthropic. But I could place my know-how as an architect at the service of my country. And that’s exactly what I did when I realised that when it came to the problem of obtaining medical masks, my nautical know-how and contacts could be very useful to many of the people who work in my sector. So I took an in-depth look…

yn 19550 project altea

Project Altea is a 50m FDHF all aluminium motor yacht below 500GT and the second yacht built on the design and engineering platform of Nova Plus. Altea offers fast yet highly efficient performance thanks to her FDHF aluminium hull with a shallow draft of just 2.15 metres. Her contemporary exterior design, by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, showcases a profile characterised by a long waterline and floor-toceiling windows. A gently reversed stem with spray rails gives her a distinctive look. Thanks to two MTU 12V 2000 M72 main engines of 1,080kW each, she will reach a top speed of 19.5 knots and will have a range of 3,750 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots. These characteristics make Project Altea one of the fastest and most economical motor…

back to nature back to futura 66m

With sustainability at the fore, Futura is slender, efficient and a third of the height of a comparable 66m yacht. Her flowing, curvaceous lines denote an elegant femininity that draws from a collection of shapes found in nature. An aerial view of the cocoon-like superstructure reveals a streamlined bow and a rounded middle, like the silhouette of a whale. Made out of glass, it is also exceptionally lightweight thanks to Vripack’s engineering ingenuity that uses rhombus-shaped framing. The result is a cross-hatched diamond effect, much like fish scales. “The superstructure, with its egg shape sliced onto a beautiful slender hull, is a concept that has been maturing in our minds for over a decade. Used with a biometric way of structuring, the result is lighter than traditional shipbuilding methods and something…

new wb14 limousine tender

“A special system ensures automatic sanitization on board after each use” Combining composite materials and latest generation technologies with classic lines. This were the guidelines for the creation of the WB14 limo tender, the latest custom model launched by the Wooden Boats shipyard for a premium Italian shipyard. Wooden Boats was set up in 2012 by Marco Arnaboldi (Studio Arnaboldi) based on his experience as former director of AB Yachts, which he founded in 1992 with his father to apply the cutting-edge technology of waterjets and sandwich construction to fast yachts. This Italian shipyard has collaborated with leading Italian brands such as Benetti, Sanlorenzo, Pershing, Baglietto and Rossinavi and has designed, engineered and built 18 unique custom tenders in less than eight years. It has also worked with top designer names…

sea eagle ii “airborne”

“Sea Eagle II now becomes the world’s largest aluminium sailing yacht and the largest superyacht built by Royal Huisman.” A successful series of sail trials marked the concluding stage and her upcoming delivery. The truly breathtaking three-masted Royal Huisman schooner SEA EAGLE II aka the world’s largest aluminium sailing yacht. Earlier this year, SEA EAGLE II, designed by Dykstra Naval Architects and Mark Whiteley, was transferred from the shipyard’s headquarters in Vollen-hove and launched in Amsterdam. Her three carbon Rondal masts and booms were installed and tuned at Royal Huisman’s Amsterdam facility. The 81m / 266ft contemporary schooner was perfectly on schedule for her delivery date, but Covid-19 restrictions in the Netherlands prevented the finishing touch – trials on the North Sea – from being completed. Nearly all board systems, such…
