Can you tell what this is: “Click, click, click, click, argh”? No? It’s the sound of someone closing countless pop-up adverts, then losing the will to live. More specifically, it’s the sound I made almost every day from about 2015 while browsing the web in Chrome, before switching to Brave last year. Brave tells me it has blocked 561,067 trackers and adverts since I installed the browser, saving me nearly eight hours of browsing time. But what’s harder to measure is the satisfying sense of feeling more private online.
