Battery-powered flash units have become more and more popular over the last several years, thanks in large part to the capability and power that Profoto proved was possible with their B1 units back in 2013. Since then, many companies have come to market with their takes on the “cordless” flash head concept, Elinchrom’s ELB 400 having been one such product. Most professional photographers, myself included, tend to steer clear of super-zoom or “megazoom” lenses, and for good reason. Generally speaking, it’s difficult if not impossible to serve the competing masters of affordability, compact size and image quality.
