rev’d up

AS YOU CAN PROBABLY TELL FROM THE insanely built cover truck, this special performance-themed issue is jam packed with some truly badass high-powered F-100 builds! We’ve been drooling over Jack’s Speed Shop truck for a while now, and we knew we had to be the first to bring it to you in a really special print issue to truly show off all of the insane detail that goes into ridiculous builds such as this one. We really love large photos and layouts that do these types of builds the justice they deserve. It’s quite difficult to pack such a gorgeous build into a five- to six-page feature story, so we wanted to really open this issue up and let this beauty breathe! Coupled with a massive guide filled with some of…

big blue

DEADLINES HAVE A WAY OF controlling a build, and sometimes builds—and the people in charge of them—are put to the test. Well, Chris Dicus and his custom fab shop are no strangers to this, as seen here by his latest creation. His ’72 F-250 is a great example of how a custom fabrication shop can pull together under pressure and showcase its capabilities for the automotive world to see. In fact, Chris brought this towering truck to the Nexen Tire booth at the 2019 SEMA show to do just that. “The entire original Ford body was gutted and skinned so that it could be slipped over the tubular skeleton and attached, becoming one.” At first glance you can’t help but notice this F-250’s size, though it’s not the biggest truck you’ll ever…

supercharged and slammed

THIS BLACK PATINA’D ’55 FORD F-100 looks innocent enough. I mean, it has a smiling supercharged snail slapped on the door, for Pete’s sake. But under the hood, it’s anything but innocent—or sluggish, for that matter. Owned by Gumby Sanders of Sour Lake, Texas, the truck was built to be a fun cruiser while promoting his shop, Texas Speed Lab Performance, he says. Sanders specializes in Coyote swaps for Mustangs and F-150s, so you know he had a great time putting this sweet ride together. It took him only four months to build—and the cost? “I don’t even want to think about it,” he laughs. Before we get into the nuts and bolts of this F-100, let’s first check out the exterior mods. It had almost no rust on the original cab, hood,…

the granddaddy

EVERY JANUARY, SOME OF THE FINEST Fords (and some Chevys here and there … haha) gather for the Granddaddy of Them All—the Grand National Roadster Show, the longest-running indoor car show in the world. Celebrating its 72nd year in 2020, the GNRS has been held for the past 17 years at the Los Angeles County Fairground’s Fairplex in beautiful Pomona, California. Like a fine wine, this show sure ages quite well. Gathering the best of the best from all over the world to compete for the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster (AMBR) Award, the top builders compete to memorialize their name in history. But, of course, we’re on the hunt for classic Ford trucks—and this show never disappoints. This year, more than 500 show vehicles competed for awards inside the Fairplex buildings,…
